iGEM's Technology Program

iGEM's Technology Program is developing new technology-related initiatives and resources, while also supporting existing iGEM ones, such as the iGEM Registry of Standard Biological Parts, the iGEM Distribution, and the resources and thrusts of the iGEM engineering committee.

Our purpose is to offer support to the entire iGEM community. This includes support for the current iGEM competition cycle and for the future development of the community and the research it collectively conducts. Our technology-related initiatives span from the creation and curation of online databases to resources for improving experimental standardization to the forming of strategic partnerships to further advance your ability to conduct synthetic biology research. You will find all of these resources within the subsections of the Technology site.

Where to get started

If you are new to synthetic biology, we recommend that you start by taking a look at our Engineering Resources section. This section includes information on the Design-Build-Test-Learn cycle found within synthetic biology, but also contains webinars spanning a large number of topics from project ideation to wet lab and dry lab work.

If you are here for our resources, please check out the appropriate subsection, whether it is the Parts Registry, the Distribution Kit, the current interlab procedures, mammalian or plant synthetic biology, or our mission statement and members of the Engineering Committee. Additional sections will be added as the Technology side of iGEM continues to grow!
